Betty Lou O’Day, 84 of Blue Rock Manor, Talleyville died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Accent Hospice, Wilmington Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Lewis and Betty Tabor.
She lived most of her life in Bethel Township, PA where she and her late husband raised 4 children and made a beautiful home on 10 acres of land there, which was always filled with family activities and gatherings.
Mrs. O’Day loved being an entrepreneur and spent many years involving herself in holistic medicine, selling candles, getting involved with various natural supplement companies, as well as developing a love of flower arranging and crafting, which kept her very busy.
Betty Lou loved worshiping our Lord and serving in many capacities at Covenant Fellowship Church from volunteering as Sunday Usher, to helping serve at The Bridge Course while she was a member there.
She absolutely loved to go Country Line dancing with friends and spending precious time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nana.
Betty Lou was employed for many years in the cafeteria at Garnet Valley School District. She was an extremely devoted and caring employee who always put the students needs as a priority, making sure that no student ever went hungry.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband, William L. O’Day, Sr. in 1995. Betty Lou is survived by her children, William L. O’Day, Jr. (Elisa), LuAnn Doherty (Jim), Laurin O’Day-Squire (Jamie) and Wryan O’Day (Kati), 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 4900 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery followed by a light lunch in the church hall. To send condolences visit: www.mccreryandharra.com.
