Frieda M. Crossan, age 90, passed away peacefully in Florida on April 13, 2024.
She graduated from Conrad High School. After marriage, she was a stay-at-home housewife and mother of 3 children until her youngest child attended school. She made doll cakes and was an excellent seamstress. She also froze and jarred vegetables that her husband grew in their garden.
She started working as a bank teller at former Bank of Delaware (PNC) where she retired as head teller after 20+ years of service.
She then moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida with her husband Bud. Frieda belonged to Good Sam’s Rolling R.V. Club where she enjoyed traveling the country in their RV for many years.
She was a member of Harmony Grange. She attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church. They moved to Pelican Landing a few years ago.
Her husband of 70 years, Howard E. (Bud) Crossan, Jr. died in 2022. Freida is survived by her 2 children, Sharon Kaiser (Kevin) and Howard, Sr. (Bonnie); 2 sisters, Betty Irvin and Ana DeRose, several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews Frieda is also preceded in death by her daughter Maryann Fleiner and 2 sisters, Alice Galyen and Margaret DeRose, her mother Lydia, and father Wincas.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 10-11 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be in Ebenezer UMC Cemetery.
