Notburga N. (Nellie) Lloyd, age 96, of Wilmington, Delaware. passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024 after a short illness.
Nellie was born in Fridolfing, Germany to Anna and Otto Wiedl. She moved to Wilmington in 1958 where she met her husband, John. They were married in 1959. Nellie proudly gained her American citizenship in 1965.
Over the years Nellie worked for Safeway, American Can, Ronson, and Stuart Pharmaceuticals. Nellie retired from Stuart Pharmaceuticals as a Line Leader in 1991. After her retirement she volunteered at the Blood Bank of Delaware. Nellie loved going to the Fraim Center for Active Adults, where she was a member for over 30 years. She especially enjoyed the pool and playing pool volleyball. She loved her pool volleyball family at Fraim and enjoyed every day she got to spend with them. Nellie was also an avid gardener and always had plenty of flowers around her home, both inside and out.
Nellie was predeceased by her parents Anna and Otto Wiedl, her husband John, siblings Otto Wiedl, Annamarie Marx, Martin Wiedl and Mina Wiedl. She is survived by her son John (Sharon Dominelli), her sister Ilse Kaltenhauser and brother Fritz Wiedl (Gita) as well as many nieces and nephews.
As were Nellie’s wishes, there will not be a service. Burial will be private. Please remember Nellie in your own way or by making a donation to the Fraim Center for Active Adults, 669 S. Union St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
