Geib, Norrine T.

Norrine T. Geib, age 95, of Glen Mills, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at home, with loved ones by her side on Sunday May 5, 2024.

She was born in Iowa City, IA and was raised in Swarthmore, PA. Norrine was the daughter of the late Marie (O’Connor) and Norris Taylor. She graduated from Swarthmore High School, Swarthmore, PA in 1946 and received a bachelor’s degree in English and Library Science from the University of Michigan, where she met the love of her life, Arthur J. Geib.

Norrine and Art married in 1950 and began raising their family in Columbia, TN and moved to Wilmington, DE in 1966. While raising their two children, Kathy and Bill, they pursued their love of travel, car camping in nearly every state across the USA. After the kids were grown, they continued to travel, visiting dozens of countries around the world. They often travelled with the Brandywine Prime Timers.

Norrine and Art were leaders of a Girl Scout Mariners troop, teaching the girls how to sail. One of the troop’s highlights was a camping trip on the property of Andrew Wyeth. Norrine was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi sorority and the American Association of University Women. In her spare time she enjoyed painting.

Norrine was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Arthur J. Geib in 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Rogers (Wade); daughter-in-law, Janet Geib; 4 grandchildren, Brian Rogers (Betsy Sinclair), Kelly Smith (Brian), Taylor Geib (Gabriella) and Jonathan Geib; 5 great grandchildren, James, Charlie, Miles, Fletcher and Josie. Norrine is also preceded in death by her son, William T. Geib in 2014 and her brother Duane Taylor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 13, at 11 am at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Greenville, DE

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Norrine’s name to a charity of your choice or to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
