Barbara A. Petroll, age 90, of Wilmington, died Friday, May 3, 2024 at Country House.
Barbara graduated from Claymont High School and Goldey-Beacom School of Business, and spent her career with the DuPont Company. Barbara was active at Christ Church, volunteering in many roles including altar guild and as the receptionist. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, friends, and her animal companions. Whether it was a long walk, bridge club, family picnics, UD football games, or trips to Long Beach Island and Maine, Barbara simply loved making memories with those she loved.
Barbara was predeceased by her sisters June Dickinson and Judy DuRoss. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 70 years Walter O. “Wally” Petroll; children Amy O’Malley (Brian) and Walter “Matt” Petroll, five grandchildren Katie, Brendan, Jared, Jackson, and Jett; and great-grandchildren Evie and Declan.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, May 13 at 2 pm at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Buck Rd., Wilmington, DE 19807. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Barbara’s name to Christ Church or Humane Animal Partners.
