Mary R. Brooks, 81, died peacefully surrounded by her daughters, Rosemarie and Colleen, on May 15, 2024. She was born in Delaware County, PA and graduated from Holy Child High School in Sharon Hill, PA. Mary was a CNA who cared for many throughout her life. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, loved bingo and her weekly dinners with “the ladies”.
Mary was predeceased by her son, Charles Brooks; brother, Michael Kennedy; and parents, Matthew and Rose Kennedy. She is survived by her children, Rosemarie (Joe) Coffiey, Colleen (Andy) Cunningham, Maureen (Chris) Cunningham, and Matthew (Candy) Brooks; grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, and Nicholas Coffiey, Bernadette, Kyle, and Robert Cunningham, Justin and Brett Brooks, Molly and Shane Cunningham, and Brandi and Ryan Brooks; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Matthew (Pat) Kennedy.
Her daughters, Colleen and Rosemarie, would like to thank Delaware Hospice and Alyssa German, PA who helped care for Mary over the past two years.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church (2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810) on Monday, May 20 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice (online at delawarehospice.org/donate/ or mailed to 630 Churchmans Road, Suite 200, Newark, DE 19702).
