David Louis Mayer, age 76, of Wilmington, DE passed away in his sleep on May 11, 2024.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the son of the late Eleanor L. (McCourt) and Clarence W. Mayer. David graduated from Conrad High School in 1965. He attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Muskingum College, New Concord, OH. He proudly served his country in his U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War where he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
David worked for the Dupont Company and then later for the State of Delaware in the Social Services Division until his retirement.
The family would like to thank the Christiana Hospital and Accent Hospice nurses for their loving care.
He will be dearly missed by all his cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 11:30 am at Riverview Cemetery, 3300 N. Market St. Wilmington, DE Riverview Cemetery. (west side of Market St.)
