Martin Amis III “Marty”, age 68 of Wilmington, DE and formerly of Marcus Hook, PA and Claymont, DE, passed away peacefully at Accent Hospice, Wilmington on May 28, 2024.
He was born in Chester, PA and raised in Marcus Hook and Claymont and was the son of the late Hannah E. (Truitte) and Martin Amis, Jr. Marty graduated from Claymont HS in 1974 and received a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from High Point College in 1978.
Throughout his life, Marty was an analyzer tech supervisor and instrumental tech at various oil refineries, including BP, ConocoPhillips and PBF.
Marty was a member of two Conchester bowling leagues where he was very proud of his average of 215.He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed Philly sport teams. Being a history buff and trivia expert were just two of his many talents. The times Marty cherished the most were times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who will cherish Marty in their memories.
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna; sons Matthew (Sarah) of Wilmington, DE, Drew (Meg) of Springfield, PA and Martin Peter of Lewes, DE; grandchildren Alex, Cameron, Grace, Trevor, Gunner and Maeve; nephews Michael and Christopher Bennet and Anthony Caporelli, Jr. and niece Lauren Sparks. He is also preceded in death by his sister Susan and step-father, Robert Barker.
A viewing will be on Sunday, June 2 from 1-3 pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pk., Wilmington where a service will follow at 3 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to be made to Special Olympics Delaware, 619 S. College Ave, Newark, DE 19716.
