Barbara Ann Folger Nolan, age 94, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 22, 2024. Barbara was known by friends and relatives as Bobbie, Aunt Bobbie, Mom Mom, Mom Mom Nolan, Mom Mom Barbara, and Mom. Barbara and her mother were both born in the family home at 628 W. 31st Street. In 1948, she graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, and she remained friends for life with many classmates and neighbors from that time, especially Franny Pope and her children Sharon and Carol.
In 1952, Barbara married the love of her life, James J. Nolan, Jr., and they raised seven children together. She was a happy, stabilizing force at home and worked for many years at the Bank of Delaware. Barbara was a kind and loving soul who saw the good in everyone she met.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents William H. Folger, Sr. and Mildred Lloyd Folger, sister Jean Folger Lyons and her husband, Burton, a sister-in-law Antoinette Folger, and niece Barbara Ann Folger Trusky. She is survived by her children, Colleen Szaroleta (Dave), James Nolan (Pam), Michael Nolan (Kelly), Patricia Rosaio (Michael), Kelly DiEleuterio (Glen), Mary DeLitta (Richard), and Susan Moss (Ken); brother William H. Folger, Jr., nieces Kathleen Flynn Smith (Art), Stephanie Folger Hanson (Stu), nephews Richard Flynn, David Lyons (Kathy) and William H. Folger III (Heather); 23 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 12 noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803, with visitation from 10:00 a.m to 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
