Joseph R. Charney, age 57 of Middletown, DE passed away on July 15, 2024.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre PA and raised in Wilmington, DE. Joe graduated from Salesianum School in 1984. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Joe then attended Salem County Community College where he studied Aviation Technology.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, and tinkering with anything mechanical. Joe also enjoyed his many pets.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Gurka) Charney, and his sisters, Sharon and Melissa. Joe is survived by his father, Joseph Charney, his four siblings, Beth Roberts (Scott), Joanne Burke (Patrick), Michael Charney (Deia), and Stan Charney (Lisa); as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly missed by, Valerie, Brittany, and Heather Whalen and her two children, Audrina and Allianna.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 6-8 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Interment will take place privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
