Doris Gropp Wadman, 89, a lifelong Wilmington resident, died peacefully on July 18, 2024.
Born to Henry and Mary Gropp, Doris was a graduate of Wilmington High School.
For 33 years, Doris was a classroom paraprofessional working with elementary age children with special needs. For most of her career, Doris was teamed up with Cindy Pochomis at Richardson Park Elementary School. A devout Christian, Doris was a 50+ year member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served as a Deacon, volunteered for many summers at Calvary’s Vacation Bible School, and participated in the lunch group.
Doris will be fondly remembered for her love of family, her wonderful sense of humor and her genuinely kind heart.
Her husband of 48 years, Ronald E. Wadman died in 2003, and she is survived by their 2 children – Ronna W. Glenn (Dr. Anthony T. Glenn) and Ronald E. “Tope” Wadman (Colleen J.); and 3 grandchildren: Ryan Glenn, Justin Glenn (fiancé Taryn Schweizer) and Samantha McDaniel (Nick). She is also survived by her longtime friend (and Maid of Honor) Connie O’Neil; and 2 friends she considered to be her adopted daughters – Cindy Pohomis and Vicky Husfelt; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her grandson, Wesley; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

A viewing will be held from 10-11am, Tuesday, July 23, followed by her funeral service at 11am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway. Interment will be at Silverbrook Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the DE Foundation Reaching Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities (DFRC), 640 Plaza Drive, Newark, DE19702 or Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 S.
