Margaret P. Green, 95, of Wilmington DE, passed away at Kentmere Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on June 29th, 2024.
She was the youngest of seven children born to Ukrainian immigrants in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1948 she married Karl F. Green and they eventually settling in Wilmington DE. There she and her husband became active members of Hanover Presbyterian Church where they worked tirelessly to help support the church. For twenty-seven years she and her husband were co-treasurer for the church. For sixty years she worked on various charitable programs offered by the church including their Super Sale, that benefit local lower income residents of Wilmington, as well as their food bank and clothing shelter. All in effort to help those in need. Family, friends, neighbors, church members always knew her as a person that never hesitated to give herself to others when in need.
She is survived by her son Andrew K. Green, his wife, Ann Marie (Garcia), two grandsons, Karl J. Green, and Jesse B. Green and a granddaughter Marion Green. She also leaves two great-grandsons, Cyrus and Hank Green. She is predeceased by her husband, Karl, son, James D. Green and daughter, Melinda A. Green.
A memorial service will be held at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701 on Friday, September 20th at 2:00 pm with the internment immediately following. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hanover Church or to the Smile Train organization that helps children obtain medical services for cleft lip or palate children worldwide.
