Schuldt, Lee Allen

Lee Allen Schuldt, age 74 of Smyrna, DE passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in the surrounding communities. Lee was the son of the late Famie (Fiser) and Ralph Schuldt. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1968. Lee then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Waraboard the USS Chicago (CG-11).

After being honorably discharged he worked for FMC in Cedar Rapids in the heat treat department where they built cranes. While Lee was working there, he met the love of his life Karen K. Kehm, and they married in 1972. After the FMC factory closed down, Lee worked at Kirkwood Community College as a clerk.

In 1989 the family moved to Delaware, at which time Lee attended Salem County Community College. There he received an Associate degree in Scientific Glassblowing. For the next 10 years he worked for Greatglas, Inc. He then worked for Happy Harry’s/Walgreens for 12 years.

Lee was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for over 25 years and the American Scientific Glassblowers Society. He enjoyed NASCAR, making stained glass, and constantly remodeling the house, with perfection.

Lee is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen K. Schuldt; son Kyle and daughter-in-law Gwen Wisniewski of Wilmington; three granddaughters, Emily McAllister, Macbeth Wisniewski, and Shelby Schuldt; and two sisters, Karen Kray (Del) of Chariton, IA and Linda Carmen (Mike) of Murfreesboro, TN. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert J. Schuldt in 1946 and son Kevin L. Schuldt in 1975.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21 from 10-11 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809 where a memorial service will follow at 11 am. The burial will then be held with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
