Anita Marie Taber, age 82, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2024.
Born December 29, 1941 in Bath, Maine, she grew up in Wilmington, DE and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware. After earning a Master of Education degree in June 1968, Anita taught in the Marshallton-McKean District. She joined the staff of Educational Service, Inc. in 1985, retiring after 30 years.
A devout Christian, she was a regular attendee of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church. Anita had a passion for chocolate and travel, and visited sites around the world with her friends. She was active with Bible Study for Today and Martha Circle. Her volunteer work included Meals on Wheels, Emmanuel Dining Room, Sunday Breakfast Mission, MOPS, and Hospitality Committee.
Anita was predeceased by her husband Donald after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Traci Marie “Trey” Taber of Columbia, MD; sibling George Kelsey of Hawaii and a nephew.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 9 beginning at 10:30 am at Brandywine Valley Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 with a funeral service at 11:30 am. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place at 2 pm at Chester Bethel Cemetery, 2619 Foulk Rd., Wilm., DE.
