Joseph F. Pepe, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on September 21, 2024.
Joseph (“Joe”) was born January 26, 1934, in Wilmington, DE to the late Giuseppe Pepe and Caterina Guagliardi. Joe graduated from Salesianum High School and was in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later became owner and operator of Napoli Pizza Shop. In retirement, he volunteered his time at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, reading, cheering on the Philadelphia Sports Teams, and watching Formula 1 Racing.
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josephine (“Josie”); his children, JoAnne Pepe, David Pepe, Mark Pepe, Cathy Maloney (Michael) and Lisa Gant (Thomas); seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Pepe; and a sister, Elisabeth Getty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church (2500 Naamans Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810). A viewing will be held at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
