Jacobs, Paul Jeffery

Our beloved Paul Jeffery Jacobs, 64, a devoted father, friend, cousin, and brother, left this world too soon, but the years he shared with us were filled with life and love. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who cherished him. Paul passed away on Saturday August 10, 2024.

Paul was known for his strength, tenacity, hard work, fun-loving spirit, and generosity. Born on February 6, 1960, to Mildred Elaine Mattis and Donald Hugh Jacobs, Paul grew up in Medford, New Jersey, alongside his sister, Pam Wells. He is survived by his two children, CJ and Christian Jacobs.

He attended Shawnee High School in Medford, NJ, before continuing his education at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in Westminster, Maryland, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and majored in Business Administration and Economics. During his college years, Paul was active on campus, playing baseball and being a brother of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Paul began his career in banking, steadily rising through the industry to become Executive Vice President of Penny Plate Inc. where he worked for sixteen years. He later founded his own private consulting company, DHJ Consulting Services, named in honor of his father. Through his example, Paul instilled in his two children, CJ and Christian, the value of a dollar, the importance of hard work, and the power of determination. However, Paul’s most meaningful lessons extended beyond his professional success, coming from his passions and interests outside of work.

Paul had a passion for working on and showcasing his historical cars, cycling, and embracing the relaxed pace of cottage life on Rabbit Island in Canada. He enjoyed downhill skiing, traveling, golfing, and giving back to his community. Paul was a dedicated supporter of the Special Olympics and the Frank Foundation Adoption Center. He also completed multiple 500-mile bike rides for Anchor House Foundation, raising awareness and funds for runaway kids, and inspired his friends to join the ride for years to come.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman who always tried to fit as many activities into a day as possible—what he affectionately called “PJ kinda days.” Whether it was traditional sports or casual off-the-dock fishing, you could always find him planning something outdoors with family and friends. Paul’s days were always filled with activity, adventure, and love.

He was deeply involved in his children’s sports, both as a coach and a supportive father. He spent countless hours driving to Special Olympics events and gymnastics meets, always showing up to cheer them on. Paul believed that hard work meant nothing without play, and he truly lived by that motto. Every day was filled with movement, activities, and plans—he was constantly on the go, making the most of life.

Paul earned a reputation for being both reliable and stubborn, a trait reflected in his choice of dog—the bullmastiff. His mischievous, lighthearted, and playful personality will be missed in every room he once filled.

We know that Paul would want to be remembered with smiles and laughter. His spirit will live on through all of us as we continue to enjoy the things he loved—whether it’s being out in nature, from the shore to the lake, driving along a backroad, sharing a beer, or making a margarita from scratch. With our pups, our children, family and our friends who have become family, Paul will remain forever in our hearts.

With love,

CJ and Christian Jacobs
