Atallian, Joan R. (Ewasko)

Age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed peacefully on September 29, 2024.

Joan was born on November 25, 1936 in Shenandoah, PA to Stanley and Regina (Honus) Ewasko. Joan graduated from Wilmington High School in 1955, before going to work at Bell Telephone. She then worked in the rectory and school at Ursuline Academy for nearly 50 years.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and Mom Mom, who cherished spending time with her family and her favorite dog, Stella. She was a devout Catholic who loved the morning mass and the Blessed Mother Rosary. She enjoyed many summers in Wildwood, NJ with the Fiorelli and Miller families and at their trailer in Lewes, DE. She loved going to the Girls Club and taking many trips with her friends. Her favorite pastimes included reading a good mystery, winning big at bingo, watching birds at the feeders throughout the day, and making people laugh with her stories and jokes.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 51 years, William “Reds” Atallian, Jr.; and her brother John S. Ewasko. She is survived by her son Dennis Atallian and his wife Kathy; as well her son, Gary Atallian and his wife Rapunzel, with whom she resided; her grandchildren, Erika (Danny) Salter, Matthew (Katie) Atallian, Brandon (Samantha) Atallian, Elise (Michael) Midili, Brittany (Dave) Puliti, and Michael Atallian; her great grandchildren Oliver, Jackson, Charlotte, Sabrina, Mia, Berkley, Noah, Ava, Parker, Luca, and Isla; her sister-in-law, Ann Ewasko, and sister, Stephanie (Lou) Deaner.

A memorial service for Joan will be held October 19, 2024 at 10:45 am, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE. 19808. Family and friends may call from 9:45-10:45 am. Burial for Reds and Joan will follow at All Saint Cemetery.
