Joan F. Bell (Watson), 78 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 28, 2024 at Christiana Hospital.
Joan was born to Frances Watson and Marian Griffith Watson. She was raised in Chester, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Chester High School in 1964. Joan’s career included employment with Eastern Airlines (Philadelphia, PA), Epsilon Products Company (Marcus Hook, PA) & Wilmington Trust (Wilmington, DE). Joan retired at age 55.
Joan’s family was her greatest joy in life. She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to dance, every party or event- she would be one of the first on the dance floor. Joan also loved the casino, reading, playing cards and the beach. Always with a smile and a kiss for everyone she knew. She was a strong woman and the epitome of class. She will be missed by many.
Joan was predeceased in death by her parents, brother Robert Watson and her eldest son Barry Bell. Joan leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, D. Webster Bell II of Wilmington, DE, Son Derek Morrow (Cheri) of Landenberg, PA, Daughter Leah Bell-Bertsch (Kris) of Wilmington, DE, Stepson D. Webster Bell III (Meghan) of Wilmington, DE and her grandchildren, Alexia Bell, Brianna Morrow, Fallon Bertsch, Aidan Bell, Tanner Bell and Brody Bell.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 6-8 pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. An additional visitation will be on Thursday, October 10, from 9:30-10:30 at the funeral home where a memorial service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial will be held privately.
