Mary Ruth Proud, age 77, of Edgewood, MD and formerly of Wilmington, DE went to be with her Lord on September 29, 2024.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre and raised in Lake Winola, PA and is the daughter of the late Viola Erma (Garrigan) and Charles Fletcher Gregory. Mary graduated from Clark Summitt High School in 1966. She received a bachelor’s degree inMusic Education from the former West Chester State College in 1970.
For over 60 years, Mary was an instrumental music teacher in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. She taught everything from an accordion to a xylophone.
Along with teaching her students she loved being a worship leader, her most cherished moments were her time with her family. Mary was a member of Apostolic Network of Global Awakening (ANGA).
Mary had a deep love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived her life based on her favorite scripture, Acts 4:12 “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Mary is survived by her best friend and husband of 52 years, Rev. Horace Eugene Proud, Jr.; five children, Gene Proud III (Nicole), John Proud, Heather Paulson (Chris), Malinda Ranshaw and Tim Proud (Nicole); a sister-in-law, Debbie Edwards (Stephen); a nephew, Jimmy Ellis (Megan), 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Burial will be held privately. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 10 am to 12 noon at Life Source Church, 8855 Bel Air Road, Nottingham, MD 21236, followed by a celebration of life from 2-4 pm at Harford Village Community Room, 1115 Paul Martin Dr., Edgewood, MD, 21040.
