Jaynes, Margaret Holland

Margaret Holland Jaynes, 93, died peacefully at home in Fairport, New York, on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Born in Bethlehem, PA, to Robert and Alice Holland, Margaret graduated from Moravian College. She taught at Chester-Bethel Preschool in Wilmington. She was a Church of the Holy Child member and a founding member of the San Damiano Fraternity in Wilmington, and served as Provincial Minister for the Immaculate Conception Province of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) from 1988 to 1995, and a professed member of the SFO since 1981.

Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing genealogical research. She shared her research techniques by teaching genealogy at local libraries, the Wilmington Family History Center, and Neumann College.

She was predeceased by her infant twins, Patrick and John Jaynes, husband, Edward B. Jaynes, brother, Robert H. Holland, and sister, Alice H. Meder.

Margaret is survived by her children, Alice J. Robinson (William) of Boothwyn, PA, Paul E. Jaynes (Peg, former) of Fairport, NY, and Charles R. Jaynes (Kelly) of Apex, NC; grandchildren Thomas E. Robinson (Kathleen), Laura J. Nasim (Samir), Eric R. Jaynes, Matthew R. Jaynes, and E. Hope Jaynes, and great-grandchildren Michael T. Robinson, Patrick J. Robinson, and Ahsan B. Nasim.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. A Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE. Burial will be private.
