Guida, Anthony D.

Anthony D. Guida, Jr. (Tony) passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. To say he fought the battle of his life is an understatement. He was diagnosed in 2015 with urothelial carcinoma and relentlessly fought, despite all odds stacked against him. Tony’s perseverance in the eyes of adversity was unwavering through all stages.

Tony was born in Wilmington, DE on May 17, 1957, to the late Anthony D, Guida, Sr and Frances Guida (Picollelli). He attended St. Matthews Elementary as a child. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1975. Tony concluded his education by graduating from the University of Delaware in 1980 with a Major in Biology and Minor in Psychology.

Tony worked for Dupont for 29 years working himself up from technician to Biologist. Tony transitioned to Frontier Science Partnerships, Inc. for 10 years as Vice President. Tony remained devoted to his career by working through many challenges such as: kidney surgery, chemotherapy, lung surgery, immunotherapy, brain surgery, and radiation.

Tony has always enjoyed spending time with family, whether it be Sunday dinners or annual family vacations at Rehoboth Beach, DE. Tony had many passions in his life, but one that stood out from the rest was his diverse skill set of being the ultimate “DIYer”. Tony was blessed to have the mentoring of his father in his early years. He continued this “thirst for knowledge” by watching his favorite show of “Ask This Old House”. Tony could fix all and was never afraid to take on a task that would be discouraging to many.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Guida, Sr., his mother Frances Picollelli, brothers-in-law Joseph Lofink and Rodney Founds. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kim Guida (Schroeder). He is lovingly survived by his son Nicholas Guida and daughter-in-law Allyson; daughter Angela Corrado and son-in-law Anthony; grandchildren Natalie, Gianna and Mia; sisters Barbara Founds and Joan Lofink; and all his nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Masters, Oncologist, Robyn Crisp, PA (from Helen Graham), Dr. Sunjay Shaw, Dr. Pawan Rastogi (from Christiana Care), Dr. David Vaughn, Dr. Sunil Singhal (from University of Penn), medical student (Elizabeth) and personal friend Dr. Vinay Sharma. Lastly, thank you to the Christiana Care team of doctors, nurses, and medical technicians for all their medical guidance and support. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Bert Israelsen and Wayne Watkins at Frontier Science Partnerships for their unwavering support and love.
