Mary J. Mroz, affectionately known as “Mims,” passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. She was 86 years old.
Mims was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Mary (Miller) and was the youngest of six siblings. She spent her career working at Legislative Hall in Dover, Delaware, where she made many lasting connections and had a deep love for her work.
Mims had a zest for life and was known for her warm heart and joyful spirit. She loved her trips to Aruba, where she created wonderful memories, and was also an avid crocheter and golfer. Many fond afternoons were spent enjoying rounds of golf with her dear husband Whitey, where laughter and friendship were never in short supply. Mims was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her beloved children: Leonard R. Mroz Jr., and Joseph Mroz (and his wife, Andrea). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Leonard Mroz, III, Joseph Mroz, Jr., Lauren Mroz-Van Ekelenburg, and her great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Carmine, and Mila Mroz.
Mims was preceded in death by her siblings: Joe, Theresa, Dolores, Peggy, Albert, and her beloved grandson, Jeremy Mroz. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
