Karablacas, Virginia

I was born in 1967 to Eleni (Helen) Karablacas and Nicholas Karablacas. I left this world on November 5, 2024 after trying to kick cancer’s @$$ for two years.

I had time to reflect on my life and was blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people and lifelong friends. My life was full of tremendous opportunities and experiences and I left with no regrets. I spent a good part of my childhood and adult life at Nick’s Grocery on Adams Street in Wilmington. Nick’s Grocery was owned and operated by my parents for over 40 years. My mother was known to many as “Ms. Nicks” and to this day people recognize her and ask about her “little white dog”.

I was also strong in my faith and actively involved in my church. My working career began at 15 ½, working at Clothes To You in Fairfax and later at Happy Harry’s. While attending Goldey-Beacom College for a BS in Accounting, I was blessed that Harry and Irene Toy hired me as their bookkeeper for T & C Sheet Metal. They treated me like a daughter and they quickly became my second family.

Wilmington Trust was another significant employer for nearly 20 years. During that time, I was offered a number of opportunities, each filled with memorable experiences. I traveled domestically and internationally, and entertained clients at some of the finest locations and restaurants. Two selfless managers put their trust in me and provided opportunities that skyrocketed my career. Bob Wasserbach and Howard Cohen most importantly. I met some of the finest people that became lifelong friends until the very end.

I leave behind my mother, Eleni and my brother, Stelios, my Goddaughters, Alexandra and Olivia, and many beloved family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday November 13 from 9-11 am. with a service to follow at 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 808 N. Broom St. Wilmington, DE 19806. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
