Leola C. “Lee” Richards, age 98, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
She was born in St. Martin, Maryland and is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dollie Donaway. Lee was married to Milton W. Richards in 1949 until his passing in 1976.
She was a long-standing member of the St Marks United Methodist Church. Lee also was a member of Post Cana where she met her companion, of 26 years, Joseph J. Gallo who predeceased her in 2014.
She worked as a waitress for most of her life, to include numerous restaurants in the New Castle area. Lee’s last job being at the Ramada Inn on the Dupont Highway for over 20 years.
Lee is also preceded in death by her son, Donald Donaway who predeceased her in 2012. She is survived by her son, Dr. Bruce Richards and his wife Cindy; her daughter, Christeen Richards; a granddaughter Johanna Boozer and her husband Blair; a great granddaughter Elizabeth (Ellie) and of course, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23 from 10-11 am at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 1700 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a memorial service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be held privately.
