John Elasic, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at the age of 71.
Born on January 25, 1953, to Helen and Joseph Elasic, John grew up in Claymont, Delaware, where he attended Claymont High School. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Delaware.
John dedicated over 20 years to the auto parts industry as the owner and operator of John’s Auto Parts, where he became a trusted resource and friend to the community. After selling his business, he continued his professional journey at Delmarva Power, working in the Vehicle Resource Management Department for more than two decades.
John was known for his positive attitude, kind heart, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. His happy demeanor and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he was cherished by many for his warmth and integrity.
A deeply spiritual man, John’s faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout his life and served him well during his battle with cancer.
John found great joy in spending time at Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, relaxing on the beach. He loved gathering with family and friends, and nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his grandchildren. John also shared many good times with the guys in his car club, the Nitwits, where he could enjoy his passion for cars and camaraderie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Joseph Elasic. John leaves behind his loving wife, Deborah; his son, John; his brother, Joseph Elasic; and his sister, Helen (Christine) Elasic.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. The receiving line will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved John are invited to honor his memory and share in the legacy of a life well-lived.
