Mann, Howard Ronald, Jr.

Howard Ronald Mann, Jr. age 68, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Newark, DE passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA raised, in Newark, DE. Ronnie graduated from Christiana High School in 1974 where he was a member of the 1973 Delaware State Soccer Championship Team. He proudly served his country in the US Naval “Sea Bee’s” for five years as a reservist.

At a young age, Ronnie worked as a ground’s keeper, then on the survey crew with Richardson Associates. He then had a 26-year career at American Hoechst, later becoming VPI/Merrix.

Ronnie was an avid softball player #17, playing for over 20 years. Playing with him was his brother Pete, “The Mann Brothers”. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking his son Eric over the many years to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions along with all his classes that were involved. Most importantly, Ronnie will always be remembered for his respect and admiration to his parents, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son at childbirth, Jonathan; his father, Ron Mann, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Howard and Ida Mann; brother-in-law, Rick Almoney; mother and father-in-law, Nina Jo and Richard Almoney along with Aunts and Uncles.

Ronnie leaves behind His Love, best friend and wife of 46 years, Lisa; his beloved son, Eric Mann and loving daughter-in-law, Carolyn; his grandchildren “angels”, Harvey and Audrey all of Wilmington; his dear mother, Nancy Mann of Newark; sister, Nancy Mann (Barbara Chance) of New Castle; brother, Peter Mann (Kathi Mann) and his Godchildren, PJ & Steven Mann of Newark; his in-laws, “guardian angel & strength” Sandy Bole (Mark) of Newark; Dave Almoney (Cyndee Langille) of Bear; his Aunt Joyce Barczak of Wilmington, her son Bernie Barczak of Newark; Aunt Genny D’Ambro and her children, Steve Wilson, Gale Towery and Carol Wilson and many cousins, nieces & nephews, great’s along with many friends.

The service and burial at All Saints cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
