Ethel Ann Thomas Reichley, age 91, of Ashburn, Virginia, formerly of Hockessin, Delaware, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Ethel graduated from Mt. Carmel High School (Mt. Carmel, PA), class of ’50 and received her RN Nursing Degree from Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Ethel worked for her brother, Dr. Charles Thomas, a pediatrician, from 1968 to the mid-1990’s as well as Cokesbury Village in Hockessin until her retirement at age 73.
Ethel was very involved outside of her nursing career. She was a member of the Garden Club, and a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church choir for over 25 years, as well as involved with various ministries in the church such as food distribution and prayer groups. After moving to Virginia, Ethel became involved with the Song Birds group at Ashby Ponds Retirement Community. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, Bible study, and playing games with her beloved grandchildren.
Ethel was predeceased by her son John David “Jody” Reichley, Jr. She is survived by her husband John David Reichley of Ashburn, VA; daughter Ann Reichley Patterson (Paul) of Manassas, VA; grandchildren Jamie Fairgrieve (Scott) of Clifton, VA, Kristin King (Branden) of Bristow, VA, and David Patterson (Rachel) of Falls Church, VA; great-grandchildren Evan, Olivia and Isla Fairgrieve and Branden and Kylie King.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 3, from 10-11 am at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 5320 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 with a funeral service at 11. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. Interment in Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Ethel’s name to St. Philip’s Church.
