Ann Thornton, aged 92, of Claymont, Delaware, and formerly of Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024.
Born and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania, Ann was one of ten children. She attended Notre Dame High School, where she developed a lifelong commitment to faith and community.
For over 60 years, Ann was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Claymont. Alongside her late husband, Jack, she was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, embodying a spirit of service and fellowship.
Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jack Thornton, and her son Timmy. She is survived by her children JoAnn and Jay Butler of Tampa, Florida; Kathleen and Ennio Staffini of Annapolis, Maryland; and Michael and Sharon Thornton of Newark, Delaware. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11am with a viewing at 10am. Burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to gather in prayer and remembrance to honor a life well lived.
Ann will be remembered for her deep faith, warm heart, and unwavering love for her family. May she rest in eternal peace. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ann’s name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
