Betty Ann Duffy Hearn, age 91, of Wilmington, DE, was called home to be with our Lord on Friday November 1, 2024. In her final days, Betty was surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was predeceased by her son Stanley Mark Hearn, parents George William Duffy and Laura Louise Mitchell, and her younger brothers Ed and Bill Duffy. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 73 years Stanley B. Hearn Jr; her children Kristi (Steve) Regester, Wendy (Marty) Brennan, and Kevin (Katie) Hearn; Grandchildren Steve (Sharon), Jill, Ben (Sarah), Sarah, Michael (Kaleigh), Emily, Aiden, Noah, and Grace; Great Grandchildren Steven III, Stella, James, and Isabel; Sister-in-Law Diane Duffy, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Betty’s greatest passion in life was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their various sporting and school events, and having them spend time with her at her home. Her grandkids loved spending summer days at Camp Mom-Mom swimming in her pool and getting spoiled with donuts for breakfast and ice cream for lunch.
Betty and Stan were married in 1951 shortly after graduating PS DuPont high school and began building their lives together. During this time, Betty had several jobs including working for the family business, Hearn Bros Market and Bell Telephone Company. In the early 60’s Betty and Stan started a Real Estate company, Remedio - Hearn. They were one of the first companies to sell real estate on Marco Island, Florida. We can all remember the stories she would tell of her favorite times at Marco Island hosting family and friends on vacations. Later, Betty would begin the next chapter in her sales career selling homes for Frank Robino Associates for 30 years. Betty retired in 2013.
Another passion of Betty’s was entertaining for family and friends. She was an accomplished cook who loved to share her passion with those around her. Every holiday and event was spent at her table. If she knew your favorite recipe, she would always have it waiting for you. Betty was well known for her epic meals like New Years Brunch for dozens of family and friends, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas dinner. Who can forget Mom-Mom’s sticky buns on Christmas morning or her dinner rolls at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not only did Betty do the cooking for her own gatherings, but she also cooked for others in her extended family with favorites they could enjoy with their families. She inspired those around her. Among many of Betty’s traditions she would make Christmas cookies the day after Thanksgiving and invite others to join in the fun.
Betty, Mom and Mom-Mom, you will be greatly missed and our memories together will be cherished forever.
