We remember and miss our mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joan Mansfield, age 85 who passed on December 7, 2024.
Joan was born in Claymont, DE where she graduated from Claymont High School in 1957 and later raised her family.
After moving to Georgetown, DE and later to Port Orange, FL, Joan returned to Delaware to spend more time with family and friends. Most recently she was a resident at Harbor Chase and Shipley Living, where she enjoyed the company of new friends and compassionate caregivers.
Joan retired from a long career with Strawbridge and Clothier, where she cultivated lifelong friendships. She was also active at the YMCA with her swimming gals. Joan loved to plan trips; camping throughout the U.S. with her family, European excursions with her friends and most recently a cross-country adventure with her granddaughter. Joan was preceded in death by her husband John Mansfield, father James Nelson and mother Estelle Nelson. She is survived by her brother James (Lorraine) Nelson, sons John (Lori) and Mike (Pam) Mansfield, grandchildren Chris (Erin) Mansfield, Brian (Caroline) Mansfield, and Audrey Mansfield (Nikki Richard), niece Jennifer Nelson, nephew Jeff Nelson, and great grandchildren Ella, Miles and Tate Mansfield.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4 from 10-11am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington where a memorial service will follow at 11am. Inurnment will at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA
