Robert Allen Oakes, age 89 from Newark, Delaware passed away on December 25, 2024 at Millcroft Rehab in Newark, Delaware.
Robert started his career in the service department at age 16 at Delmarva Power, where he was a supervisor until his retirement at 62. He was the president of the Delmarva Power Credit Union for over a decade. He also served as president of the Timber Farms Civic Association for many years, among others. Life will be a little less brighter without his presence. He dedicated his life to his family and for him, family was always first. The love he had for his community was always a priority to him, working hard to organize Easter egg hunts, Halloween Parades, and Picnics, which always brought him so much joy. Sunday was always football day around Robert’s house, where the team he rooted for the most was the Philadelphia Eagles. For most of his life, he was an avid golfer who loved the game and shared this love with his sons, grandsons, and many friends. He loved being with every one of his grandchildren, and they all brought such joy to him throughout his life. Robert was a giver, always ready to help someone.
Robert was predeceased by his mother Ruth Oakes; his loving wife Kathleen Oakes and Marie Oakes (mother of his children) and son, Robert Oakes, (Debbie); granddaughter, Nicole Oakes and grandsons, Alan Oakes and Kyle Oakes.
