William (Bill) Sporay, age 67, of Hockessin, DE passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Christiana Hospital.
He was born to the late Gerald and Loretta Sporay in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from Christiana High School in 1975. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Anna Harkin, and was married to her for over 44 years. Bill was an auto mechanic and had recently retired from Concordville Nissan after many decades of dedicated service.
Bill was known for his sense of humor and his silly Sporay jokes! He was a devout Eagles and Phillies fan, loved cars, hot sauce, Jameson, cold beer and his family and friends…not necessarily in that order! More than anything, Bill loved being a father and Grandpop, and lived for his daughter and grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife, Anna Sporay, his daughter, Christine Donnelly, her husband John Donnelly, and his grandchildren, Mason and Emma. He is also survived by his siblings Helmut (Irmi), Diane (Gregory), Jerry and Elaine (Martin), as well as a host of family and friends, most notably his many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Billy!
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Jan 2 at 10am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington DE, followed by a service at 12. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of their choice.
