Nicholas D. Maccari, age 72, of Newport, DE passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Nick was the cherished son of the late Nicholas B. and Jeanette Maccari. He was a man of incredible warmth and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nick’s professional journey began as a painting contractor, and in his later years, he discovered a passion for restoring classic cars, becoming a skilled mechanic. A man of many gifts and interests, Nick excelled in a variety of pursuits, including basketball, skiing, cooking, rebuilding classic cars and motorcycles, drawing, photography, and weightlifting. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, friends, and beloved pets, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Victoria Russell Maccari; his loving children, Tia Maccari-Torres (Bob) and Nicholas R. Maccari (Dorie); his brothers, Anthony R. Maccari and Joseph Maccari (Tammy); his sister, Frances Brousseau (Dan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Nick’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be private.
