It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired Captain Vaughn T. Dale, Jr. on January 16th 2025. Captain Dale began his career with the New Castle County Police Department in January 1968, serving with dedication and integrity until his retirement in September 1988.
He will be fondly remembered for his commitment to service and friendships he fostered throughout his career.
Vaughn graduated from Claymont High School, afterwards he served in the US Air Force. After retirement he held several positions at NuCar Chevrolet and lastly with State of Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
He would have celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his loving wife Jeanette at the end of this month.
He loved starting his daily routine with the daily crossword puzzle and with computer games. But above all, he loved his wife and was very grateful for his neighbor Ed and family who would visit on a weekly basis.
Jeanette would like to thank the New Castle Paramedic’s, Police agencies and neighbors who helped, to aid him.
A visitation will be held on January 23 from 9:30 -11 am. with a funeral service to follow at 11am. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike Wilm DE 19803. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. For online condolences visit: www.mccreryandharra.com
