Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Marcella died on February 4, 2025 at Forward Manor, Wilmington, Delaware. She retired from Hercules Incorporated in 1989, after 15 years as secretary in Adria Laboratories, Paper Chemicals, Market Development, Advanced Office Systems and the Patent Section of the Legal Department.
Known to her family and close friends, Peg or Marcie she was an active member in her parish, Holy Rosary, having served on the Parish Council, past president of the Sanctuary Society, member of the Lazarus Ministry, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Diocesan Mother’s Guild, a Past Regent in the Daughters of Isabella St Mary’s Circle 881 in Kansas City, MO. She was very active in Post Cana, having served several terms on its Board of Directors, was Past President of DeLaWarr Cotillion. She enjoyed her time as a student at the Wilmington Music School, The Anna Marie Dance Studio and the Academy of Lifelong Learning in her senior years.
Marcella was born in Minneapolis, MN to Elsie Leora Senn and Edward Francis Crowley on April 12, 1922.She attended schools in Tulsa and Oklahoma City and was graduated from Redemptorist High School in Kansas City, MO and Miss Hickey’s Secretarial School in St Louis.
During WW II while in St. Louis, she was a volunteer at the USO at Keil Auditorium, where she met her future husband, LeMert E. Wade, who died May 10, 1985.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward F. Crowley, Jr. of Webster Groves, MO, an infant brother and two infant sisters. She is survived by her son, Paul Kevin and his wife Mary Campos, of Wichita, KS, her daughter, Mary Therese, and husband Christopher Lamb, of Everett Washington, nephew James Crowley, niece Nancy Crowley Stockman both of St. Louis; Karen Crowley Hooten of Eureka, MO, Kathleen Crowley Goodman of Greensboro, NC. Grandchildren; Jennifer Wade Robertson, James Wade, Jonathan Wade and Brandy Fran; Great grandchildren Christian Hoang, Elijah Frank, Sebastian Frank, Anna Lilly Robertson, Claire Ava Robertson and Declan Odin Wade.
A visitation will be held on Thursday February 13, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 where Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, followed by lunch.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Marcella’s name to Holy Rosary Church.
