Robert G. Bobo Jr., 64, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully while asleep on February 16, 2025.
Known to everyone as Bob, he was born on June 7, 1960 to Robert G. Bobo Sr. and Marlyn Smith Bobo in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from Cherokee High School in Marlton, NJ in 1978, he started studying marine biology at East Stroudsburg State College. After a couple of years, he decided to forgo college and chase his dream of making it big playing drums in a band called Coup D’état . Coup D’état was very popular in the Philadelphia original music scene in the mid to late 1980s. After leaving the band in the late 80’s he started a long career in audio sales working most of his life at Overture Ultimate Home Electronics in Wilmington DE.
Bob was a proud father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his son and grandson. He was an audiophile who was passionate about anything related to music. Bob was a huge Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed watching the Eagles win the super bowl this year. He was an avid photographer, a great writer and orator, loved playing drums and watching live music, telling stories, and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his partner Diane Stephens; his mother Marlyn Bobo; his siblings Jean Bobo Read, Eric Bobo and wife Editha Cygan; his nephew Spencer Read; his grandson, Robert G. Bobo IV; and extended family members Elysse Epperson and Julian.
Preceded in death by his son Robert G. Bobo III; his father Robert G. Bobo Sr.
Visitation from 1-3pm and a Memorial Service from 3-4pm will be held at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home on Concord Pike in Wilmington DE on Saturday, February 22. A reception will follow the service from 4-7pm at the Talleyville Fire Company on Concord Pike across from the funeral home.
In lieu flowers the family requests donations be made to the Robert G. Bobo IV Trust Fund.
