Senft, Cynthia Jean

It is with great sorrow that we share the peaceful passing of Cynthia Jean Senft, beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt and best friend to many. Cynthia, known as Cindy to friends and family, was born in Wilmington, DE in January 1957. She was the daughter of Christian F. Senft and Matalee E. Senft and sister to Christine S. Long.

Cindy grew up in the Parkwood neighborhood of Wilmington, graduated from A.I. DuPont High School in 1975 and the University of Delaware in 1979. She attended a paralegal studies course at Widener University and then headed west to Montana in the fall of 1979 where she began her career as a paralegal for the firm Harris, Jackson & Bennett. In 1983, Cindy returned to Delaware and began a 35-year dedicated career with the well-known law firm, Skadden.

Cindy relished entertaining and took great pride hosting holiday meals for family and exploring new restaurants with friends. She absolutely relished gift-giving, especially during Christmas, putting meticulous thought into gifts for her family and friends and very thoughtfully decorating her prized home. Cindy greatly enjoyed a small beach house she rented on LBI, New Jersey that she fondly referred to as “The Shack” and would spend her summer weekends relaxing on the beach and exploring the area. On winter weekends, she could be found vehemently cheering during Sunday football games and making the most of her time visiting with friends and family. Cindy was a strong woman, an amazing friend, enjoyed fast cars, spoke her mind and will be greatly missed by so very many people who lives she touched.

Cindy passed on February 19, 2025 after a long struggle with aphasia and dementia. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Chris Long, her nephews, Matt and Jared Frosch, her great-nieces: Victoria, Savannah and McKenzie Frosch, who fondly referred to her as “GC,” Great Cindy! and her little great-nephew, Greyson Frosch. She will also be greatly missed by her many friends and co-workers who’s relationships Cindy so valued.

All those whose lives she touched are welcome to attend a visitation to be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday March 3 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road Wilmington, DE. A service will begin at 11:00 am and interment will immediately follow on site in the Red Clay Creek Cemetery. Following interment, friends and family are invited to return to the church for a reception to celebrate Cindy’s life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, alz.org.
