Karen Lynn Schmoyer passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of March 9, 2025. She was born on December 9, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Janet and Norman Peters of Chambersburg.
Karen married Scott Schmoyer, and together they built a loving home in Atco, New Jersey, where they welcomed their two daughters, Shana (1988) and Gretchen (1989). Their family later grew with the birth of their son, Kyle (1992), after moving to Shamong, New Jersey. In 1998, they relocated to Delaware, where Karen continued to dedicate her life to her family.
A devoted mother, Karen was deeply involved in her children’s lives. She was a stay-at-home mom who embraced every opportunity to support and nurture them—chaperoning field trips, volunteering in their schools, and even serving as PTA president. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Karen is survived by her three children: • Shana Caltabiano, married to Mark, with their cherished fur baby, Sofie.• Gretchen Mann, married to Ryan, with two wonderful children, Calvin and Lucy.• Kyle Schmoyer, married to April, with two beloved children, Skylar and Scarlet. She is also survived by her sister, Michele, and a loving circle of extended family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Karen’s legacy is one of love, selflessness, and dedication to family. She will be profoundly missed.
