Huber, Edward J.

Age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, with his girls by his side.

He married his true love, Kathy Kemmerer, in 1978, and they shared a wonderful marriage of 47 years. Their union was a model of harmony and mutual respect, one where laughter and understanding were always at the forefront. Remarkably, in their many years together, they never had a fight—a testament to the deep bond they shared. Ed’s greatest joy in life was his family, particularly his girls and grandkids. He dedicated himself to ensuring they always had what they needed, and they could rely on him without question. Ed was a constant presence in their lives, offering his support and love at any moment.

Known for his remarkable skills, Ed was a master with his hands. Whether it was fixing, building, or crafting, there was nothing he couldn’t do. His talent and generosity extended beyond his family; Ed was always ready to lend a hand to friends, neighbors, and anyone who needed help. His willingness to help others and his friendly nature earned him friends wherever he went. Ed never hesitated to speak to anyone, making connections and spreading kindness wherever he went. His friendly nature helped him form lasting friendships, including with the servers at his favorite spots and a close-knit group of friends he regularly met up with at Cafe Americana and Crossroads. Ed was an avid fisherman. Many fond memories were created over the years as Ed spent countless hours fishing with his brother, nephews, and brother-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Paul; aunt, Ruth; and best friend, Bob Klopfenstein. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; his girls, Kristen (Joe) and Taryn; grandchildren, Macy Katherine and Greyson Joseph; siblings, Marlene Mousley (Tom), Thelma Hall (Bob), Mary Lou Bartlett, Bill Huber (Debbie), Bruce Huber (Tina), and Lynn Connor (Ed); numerous nieces and nephews, including the Brennans who he was especially close to; and his best friend of 67 years, Steve Rulon (Ginny).

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Christiana ER, ICU, nurses Rebecca and Isa, and AccentCare Hospice for their unwavering support, compassion, and care for Ed and his girls. They will forever be grateful for the love and support they received from family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers during this difficult and unexpected time.

A visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Interment will be private.
