Agnes C. Maguire, 67, passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side on March 23, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on July 27, 1957, she was the eleventh child of the twelve Maguire siblings. Agnes began her education at Holy Rosary Elementary School in Claymont and graduated from Claymont High School in 1975. During her high school years, she was known for her ability to play basketball and served as the guide-on for the Claymont Flaming Arrow Marching Band.
Agnes pursued her passion for radiology, graduating from St. Francis Hospital School of Radiology and embarking on a fulfilling career as a Registered Radiologic Technologist. She dedicated over 25 years of service to Omega Imaging in Wilmington, DE.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Vincent de Paul and Nyra A. Maguire, as well as her siblings, Nyra M. Maguire, Vincent de Paul Maguire, John P. Maguire, Margaret T. Ganakis, and brother-in-law, David S. Lank. Agnes is survived by her sisters Michele Lank, Catherine Maguire (Diane), and Mary Maguire, and her brothers Michael Maguire (Jill), Paul Maguire (Maureen), Joseph Maguire (Ginny), and Gerard Maguire. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Julie Maguire and Kathleen Maguire, numerous nieces and nephews, and held a special affection for the children and grandchildren of her brother Jack: Megan Geraghty (Matt), Deirdre Holmes (Ryan), and Brendan, James, and Cara Geraghty.
Agnes enjoyed her many trips to the Delaware beaches, visiting family, and her many vacations with her extended family to the Jersey Shore. While on these trips, she enjoyed looking for special treasures in thrift stores and antiques shops. Agnes loved traveling and had the opportunity to visit Ireland, Italy (including a private tour of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican), and France. She also travelled to many points of interest in the USA.
A devout member of St. Helena’s Church in Wilmington, DE, Agnes generously volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and worked in the parish outreach office. She dedicated herself year-round to organizing the church’s annual “attic treasures” sale and also volunteered for the monthly breakfast ministry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at St. Helena’s Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Agnes’s memory may be made to The Benedictine Sisters of Newark, 25 Gender Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
