Alvin Hicks, age 66, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Christiana Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Alvin was born and raised in Wilmington where he spent a majority of his life. He is survived by numerous people who he loved and who loved him right back. Alvin is survived by his four sons who shared his passion of fishing: Alvin, Joel (Teena), Darryl (Jamie), Elijah (Cherae), his 18 grandchildren who he especially loved and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his only living sibling, his sister Sissy who took care of him the last 5 years of his life and many nieces and nephews including Chrissy Kenyon, who was his accountant, personal shopper, television technician and secretary, Rita Gentry his Uber driver, Linda Lappert (Steve), Shiela Brooks (Wayne) who helped tremendously doing fixer uppers to the house and vehicles, Tina Barlow (Yogi), his nephews Walter Kenyon, his other Uber driver, John Chance (Susan) and Alan Chance, Chad Marshall (Joanne) who he considered one of his sons, and by his great friend and neighbor Chris White and great friends Terri Lynch and Miguel.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Charlotte Hicks, 6 brothers and 2 sisters and his wife Diane Hicks.
He worked for Polygon Technologies for18 years where he met a bunch of great people including one of his best friends Jose.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from the Helen Graham Center, especially Heath from Dr. Jason Palopoli’s office.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
