Loftin, Stella Morris

Stella Morris Loftin – June 22, 1944 – February 6, 2025

Stella Morris Loftin, born on June 22, 1944, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in her sleep on February 6, 2025, at the age of 80. A devoted wife, loving mother, Mimi, and friend, Stella leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness.

For over 43 years, Stella worked at the University of Virginia in the Housing Division, where she was a beloved and respected member of UVA’s staff. Her strong work ethic and caring nature earned her the admiration of colleagues and students alike. Stella took great pride in her work, always going above and beyond to make others feel welcome and cared for.

Stella was married to her husband, Charles, for almost 63 years, a testament to their love and determination. Stella’s love for her family and friends knew no bounds, and her absence leaves a void as she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles, her daughter Monica Townsend, her son-in-law, Danny, her grandchildren, Jackson, Grace, Casey, and Stella, and a wide circle of friends and family who will carry her memory in their hearts.

At this time, no memorial service is scheduled, though one may be held later. If you are so inclined the family asks that any donations, be made in Stella’s name to an animal rescue of your choice as she loved all animals, and they were a big part of her life.

“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought, and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” Leo Buscaglia

Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” Mitch Albom
