William C. Salamone (aka Billy Delaware, the Mayor of Delaware, Billy D, or Pop Pop) passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in his bed on April 2nd, 2025.
Bill recently retired after a satisfying career and spent his free time enjoying life. He was an avid fisherman, a gun enthusiast, a history buff, a grill master, and a voracious reader, with debatable singing and dancing skills who enjoyed a cocktail or threeevery sooften.
His smile was a mile wide, his laugh was infectious and had no volume control, and his ability to light up any room with his positivity and humor was a gift. Anyone who met him was drawn to his spirit and he truly loved being surrounded by his family and friends any chance he could.
He is remembered by his wife Mary Louise, his sons Brian and Rich, his granddaughter Chloe, his sister Mona and his brother Chas, his nephew Mike with his wife Brittany and their sons Braxton and Beckett, his daughters-in-law Erin and Amy, along with many more extended family and hundreds of friends who loved him. And of course his cat, Rosie.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please bring your favorite story of Bill.
